That's a beautiful shot, Patrick. I was just there a couple of years ago and it's an eye-opener to stand on what's left of the ramparts at Ft. McHenry and realize just how close the British ships really were when Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner. A good history lesson for your kids, eh? Or, maybe they were more fascinated with the aquarium?
Hey there Marna --
The Ft. McHenry trip was great. The kids really got it which I think was helped by the fact that they got to participate in the folding of the flag. I must have a million photos of that.
Another really cool part is that the other day I had to go by Ft. McHenry in the dinghy to pick up a sail we were having repaired on the other side of the harbor. Going by the cannons of the fort and looking up from the water in the dink makes a real impression. I think we're all getting a really good lesson in American history out here.
Our next big stop will be Washington, D.C. and we'll be anchored right off of downtown while there. Our hope is to stay as long as it takes to really see a bunch of D.C. That should be another great lesson as well.
Pat
Glad you made it safely down the Jersey shore. Philly and Baltimore are both interesting cities. I hope you have a chance to stop in DC. Tomorrow I'll be using your recipe for Mojito's for a bridal shower. Hope they are as good as the one you made me!
